The Animal Tenure (Aka Pets) Topic

Cats are the greatest. Here are my two:

The black and white one is Tallulah. She's 5 years old and we got her last year from Cats Protection. She has IBS so she needs constant attention, but we can manage it. She really likes company.
The black one, just visible on the brown blanket, is Yoshii. She's 2 years old and we got her as a tiny kitten. She's extremely affectionate to me, otherwise she just wants to be an independent kitty but she's too much of a tiny failcat for that.
It's taken them a year, but they're finally used to each other.

I've just realised that I haven't posted about my new rabbits on here, well I guess it's time for that now, isn't it? ;)

Following in the hops of my late rabbit Thumper (he died in December, as did a part of my soul), my family and I adopted two brother bunnies, aka 'brunnies', we've named Oswald and Bucky. They're just over 4 months old so they're still babies.

On the left is Bucky, named after Captain America's no.1 fanboy who isn't Coulson, and on the right is Oswald, named after the Lucky Rabbit.

I will never tire of them standing up.

They will also not tire of standing up for food.

Judgemental fluffbums.

Our latest rat, Murray, really likes hoodies. He covers them in fur and biscuit crumbs quicker than we can do washloads. Here he is making a mess of @Kelpie's.

I didn’t know this thread existed, here in all her glory is Nala, aka Morale Cat, MC for short. Named by the Discord regulars as she is happy to pose to bring a bit of moral support when needed.

She was a Cats Protection rescue, is scared of absolutely everything and anything, 90% eyes, but a huge fan of BIZKITS, peeing on the stairs, and tucking herself up in my bed during the day.

Edited for dodgy spellung mistooks

Meet Winnie. My little greek shepherd.

Bought her from that there Greece in 2021. Lovely, adorable and gentle are words we can use when she is in the house. Outside, woah things change. Unless she knows you.

She went in for spaying last year and this is where we discovered she has epilepsy. On tablets for life. As I speak, fit free since before Christmas.

Went to the shops, and came back with two new ratties. Names still TBC. But so far they seem very friendly.

The one in the bottom pic looks like it could be our Fudge reincarnated, if that's the case you are in for a shock as she was a terror 🤣. (And if you are wondering about the name, it my husband's choice and I did point out that it made no sense given her colouring!)

Extremely tempted to get some more ratties at some point, just need to find somewhere in the house we are happy for them to ruin!

We keep our cage(s) in the hallway / landing. So it's easy to close all the doors, put a bit of cardboard across the top of the stairs, and let them run about without causing mayhem.

One of them definately has a destructive streak. Haven't been able to work out which one yet.

Decided on names for them:
Critter the First, (the slightly larger, darker headded, more timid one) is Darmok.
Critter the Second, (the slightly smaller, browner headded with white fleck, fearless explorer) is Jalad.

Bonus point to anyone who gives gets the names and replies in the correct language ;)

Edit to add pictures:

Jalad:

And Murray, not caring:

Darmok and Jalad at Tenagra.

Murray at court, the court of silence.

Had to take my dog Bailey to the vets today to be euthanised. Almost 11 years old, he's been a massive part of our lives. It's hard to process right now, but it'll get better. He'd struggled all his life with joint problems (and had operations) but on Friday his last leg that he'd been compensating on completely gave up and he couldn't even get outside to the toilet any more. He's had all the medicine going but he just couldn't struggle through the pain any more, and we've had to let him go and sleep without any more pain. He was loved every day and was spoilt rotten. He couldn't wait for his walks and cafe/pub every single day. No regrets. We already miss him so much. Goodbye my old beautiful friend.

😭

Sorry to hear that, pets leaving us is always bad.

Although with our cats who passed a few years ago I found the one who died naturally with us a lot harder than the other who was put to sleep.

I thought MC stood for Moo Cow given her Friesian coat!! 🐄

Oh dear Mr Zola, as well as a shared interest in the old history of the Towers, be both have/had a Bailey.
Mine is a naughty awkward sod, but he is very much loved, and getting old on his three legs.
Heart goes out to you pal, we are dreading the day...

Thanks Pal. I hope your Bailey keeps being an awkward sod for as long as possible 👍 :)

So do I.
As they do as they get older, he spends most of his time sleeping, but still loves his food and walks.
But still naughty when he gets the chance.
He likes sitting up and barking at random...just to get attention.
His favourite game, someone gets out of their chair, he jumps in it, then refuses to move.
"You can't kick me off...I've only got three legs".
